Hey 🙂 I’m Christian Schaffer, and I’ve lived on the road full-time since May 2018. This journey began in 2013 when I left the corporate world to build my career as an outdoor adventure & travel photographer. As a semi-minimalist, I eventually decided to donate/sell most of my belongings and move into my 4x4 Nissan Xterra. After 14 months of SUV living and falling madly in love with the open road - I bought a van and hired a team to build it out. Van life enables me to experience and document the beauty of our natural world on a whole new level, all while having my home and office nearby. My hope is that by sharing my own personal highs and lows along this (sometimes) wild journey, you might be inspired to hit the road or spend more time outdoors. Maybe one day I'll see you out on that open road 🚐

Van Life | Well, This Was A Wild Idea
Creating from chaos; van life chores, camping in the middle of nowhere and a change of plans that landed me and the van in big sky country - Montana. I have to warn you, there are some bad dance moves in this one but I like to think the cute dog footage makes up for it?
Thanks for being here, I appreciate you always ♡

2:22 chores and a new toilet yay
3:46 camping in the middle of nowhere
5:10 hello montana

The Life I Left Behind
It doesn’t take long to lose sight of your dreams. To trade curiosity for routine…this one is a glimpse into the life I left behind. The book that changed everything, and a backpacking trip into the wild ↟
p.s. I still have a mountain of footage to sort and share, but it’s crazy beautiful outside, and there’s nothing else in the world quite like autumn in the alpine. Thank you for hanging around, I appreciate you all so much ♡
1:05 the life i left behind
2:30 to the mountains
4:00 untethered, unattached, uninvested
4:45 just a dream
5:49 finding courage
7:11 into the wild
8:32 alpine dips in the backcountry
10:22 who do you think you are
10:56 is any of this actually what i want
13:00 thirty-seven, single, living in a van down by the river

In this video I open up about what’s really been going the past couple of months, and some of the struggles I’ve been running into out here on the road. I also might maybe definitely have found a place I’d love to call home someday… hope you like this one ♡
