How To Install a Maxx Air Fan Van Conversion Ford Transit DIY Van Conversion
Welcome back to the channel ya kookz!
Get a step-by-step instructional video guide on how to build your van here - https://www.vankookz.com/diy-ford-transit
Today is the day for the easiest/hardest process of the DIY van conversion. It's time to cut the first holes in your van. This can be a scary task but fear not! The Vankookz are here to help. Installing your roof fan is actually one of the easier tasks in the entire van conversion process and you will feel so accomplished once you are done with this step.
You will need the following items to make this happen.
Maxx Air Fan - https://amzn.to/3Fjgk6T
Lap Sealant - https://amzn.to/3kCG7PM
Butyl Tape - https://amzn.to/3FhoQDG
Solar Entry Gland - https://amzn.to/3kAw4KW
This time went with a Maxx Air fan on this van conversion because well let's face it.... It's the best option although it is expensive the other models don't compare. Trust us we have used all of them. The Fantastic Fan is trash don't waste your time or money with that junk unit. It's also very important to apply a lot of self-leveling lap sealant around the fan to make sure it's watertight. It's also very important to use butyl tape as well. We have done this process many times and this is the best way to do it.
If you follow along with this video you should have zero problems with this installation.

Modular Solar Array for a Van Conversion | BougeRV Charge Controller and CIGS Solar Panel Review
Welcome Back to the channel ya kookz!
Today we are reviewing a few BougeRV products that we are adding to the van. Recently we upgraded to SOK lithium batteries (https://www.us.sokbattery.com/?ref=a7n6vo6o5a) and are loving them. However, we’ve realized that since we added 150 extra amp hours than we are used to we are going to have to also add more solar power to our array.
Since there's no more real estate on top of the van’s roof we are going to have to utilize modular solar panels and run them all through a new MPPT charge controller to maximize the efficiency of our array.
We went with the BougeRV 40 Amp MPPT and one of their 200W foldable CIGS panels. What we wanted to do with adding additional watts to our array was to also allow us to have a more modular solar setup so we can be parked in the shade all day during the hot summer months but also have a way to collect solar via an extension cord to another MPPT that can be out in the sun.
A large majority of my van life friends have their solar panels on the roofs of their rigs. This is obviously the best place for them. We have a panel on top of ours as well. It’s really the only place for it to go. However, during the hot summer months, most van lifers find refuge in the shade. This isn’t good for charging a 400ah battery bank. Also, I find that the summer months demand the most power on our batteries. The fridge has to work harder, the fan is always on full speed, and other accessories are being used more because the days are longer.
I saw this on Dave’s aka @NoLimitVanLife channel he had a video where he was adding multiple MPPTs to his power system to expand his array so he could use more power in his home on wheels. I saw this and thought it was a great way for us to get the solar we needed while hiding in the shade of tall pine trees all summer.
This is an experiment in van life that went great and I hope this helps you on your van life quest.

Floating the Rio Grande for the Balloon Fiesta
Floating the Rio Grande for the Balloon Fiesta
We are back in New Mexico just in time for the 50th anniversary of the International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is a one-of-a-kind event that should be on every nomad's bucket list.
This year we wanted to have a whole new experience at the Fiesta. I just received two FreeIn inflatable SUPs and thought what a great way to see the balloons from the Rio Grande River. Luckily for us, there was plenty of flow this year due to unseasonably high rainfall this summer and fall.
I wrote this guide because I was scouring the internet for information and found little to no details so we set out and floated the river two times to find the best route and now I am sharing it with you.

Van Life Colorado Style - Self Rescue, Rock Climbing, Rappelling, Via Ferrata, and Bus Tours
Welcome Back to the Channel Ya Kookz!
Fall has arrived in Colorado just in time for the Vankookz to get here. We have an action-packed adventure planned out for you kookz today!
The adventure starts on the Ouray Via Ferrata. We did the upriver trip here because it was supposed to be more exposed and adventurous. After that, we headed to the Waterfall Wall to Climb Princess Ellas Magical Adventure. But we repelled down the 100-foot waterfall and realized we went the wrong way. Watch the video to see how we escaped.
I also head up a 13,000-foot mountain to drop lee and his crew off so they can fly off the top. We wrap this video up with Steve giving us a sneak peek at his newest creation. Check out Steve's Van conversion company www.nowwherevans.com

Well... He did it again. Steven aka @freetired has really outdone himself this time. He is working on the most engineered bus conversion the internet will ever see. Although the bus is still a work in progress its battery bank/solar array is already very impressive.
Also, have you ever seen a bus with a wall that opens up to a deck? We bet you haven't. This bus is going to be so badass when it's done we can wait for the full tour!
